These terms cover your use of FIRE Progress (“the service”), operated by an individual developer (“we”, “us”). By creating an account you agree to them.
What the service is
A personal tool for tracking net worth, spending and progress toward financial independence. It is currently in beta: sign-ups are invite-only and there is no charge to use it. Features may change or disappear. If we ever introduce paid plans, existing accounts will be told in advance and never charged without an explicit opt-in.
Not financial advice
The service does arithmetic on numbers you supply. It is not investment, tax, legal or retirement advice, and nothing it displays is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold anything. Projections — including any date it shows for reaching financial independence — are the mechanical result of the assumptions you enter. They are not predictions, they will be wrong, and they should not be the basis for a decision you cannot afford to get wrong. Talk to a qualified professional before acting on anything you see here.
Market data
Prices and exchange rates come from third-party sources and are provided as-is. They may be delayed, incomplete, or simply incorrect, and some holdings may have no price at all. Do not trade on them. We make no warranty about their accuracy and are not liable for decisions made on the basis of them.
Your account
- Give a real email address you can receive mail at — it is how you recover access.
- Keep your password to yourself. Activity under your account is your responsibility.
- An account is for one person. Don’t store other people’s financial data without their knowledge.
- Don’t attack, overload, scrape, or attempt to gain access to parts of the service that aren’t yours.
Your data
The records you enter remain yours. We claim no ownership over them and do not use them for any purpose other than showing them back to you. You can export everything as JSON or delete your account at any time from the settings page; deletion is immediate and irreversible. How data is handled is described in the Privacy Policy.
Availability
The service is provided as-is, with no uptime guarantee. It may be unavailable, lose recent changes, or be discontinued. If it is ever shut down, we will give account holders reasonable notice by email and time to export. Keep your own copy of anything you can’t afford to lose — the export button exists for exactly that.
Suspension
We may suspend or close an account that abuses the service, endangers other users, or is used for anything unlawful. Where circumstances allow, we will say why.
Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the service is provided without warranties of any kind, and we are not liable for any loss — financial, data, or otherwise — arising from its use or unavailability. Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot be limited by law.
Changes
If these terms change, the date at the top changes with them, and material changes are emailed to account holders before taking effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new terms.
